Band Classes
Beginning Band
Beginning Band is available to all 4th & 5th Grade students in the Ponderosa feeder area. In this class, students will learn how to assemble, care for, and begin to play an instrument. No previous instruction is required. In band, students can learn to play woodwinds (flutes, oboes, clarinets, saxophones, bassoons) brass (trumpets, french horns, trombones, euphoniums/baritones, tubas) or percussion (snare drums, bells, and auxiliary percussion).
Intermediate Band
Intermediate Band is available to all 4th & 5th Grade students in the Ponderosa feeder area. In this class, students will build on their fundamental skills and learn to play more complex music in a variety of styles. Previous experience, such as a completed year of Beginning Band, is required.
Class Options
Classes are offered for each school, but students are welcome to attend any option that best fits their schedules.***
***These are "brick and mortar" schedules that we'd normally do if school was in session as normal.
It looks like we'll be starting entirely virtually this year, and perhaps later in the year there could be combinations of in-person and virtual classes. Your child's teacher will communicate the various adaptations that may need to be made throughout the year, based on COVID-19 guidelines for keeping our children (and teachers) healthy.***
